The sun is shining and the valleys in wine country are heating up.  On Saturday I was seeking a cooler climate and took a drive out on the Sonoma Coast to Bodega Bay.  A great place for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay to grow – also a good place for Salt Water Taffy!

You can’t miss Patrick’s – a pink-stripped shack alongside Bodega Road.DSC_0296

The drive is stunning, winding along the coast and passing by all the ranches and vineyards.  We all know about the wonderful coastal vines but many of us haven’t visited them.

The warmth and cool climate winds have a magical effect on nature:

grapes are budding…

…and succulents are bursting with color!

Once I was returning home, I decided to complete the beautiful day out on the coast by wine tasting. I stopped along the Russian River Valley Wine Road at Lynmar Estate, Red Car, and Iron Horse.
