In February, the Wine Road’s Art of Oak was unveiled at DeLoach Vineyards, and folks lucky enough to view these amazing barrel transformations were in awe of the results.
Background
Forty piece of barrel art were created, with about half being sold to the businesses that sponsored the barrels and more sold during preview at DeLoach. All the barrel art is available for viewing until May 10th. Here is the link to the listing of Art of Oak and the locations. The Art of Oak pieces still for sale are scattered throughout the county in tasting rooms and other public venues. If not sold before the Wine Road’s gala event, Road to Ruby, on May 14th, the unsold Art of Oak pieces will be a part of the gala’s live auction.

Closer Look
Sonoma Barrel Décor and Design Company created four pieces for Art of Oak, and here is a closer look at the inspired designs and a glimpse of their creators. Sonoma Barrel is a dynamic, inventive group that handcrafts one-of-a-kind pieces from recycled wine barrels.
Piece #1 is a stunning workable harp. That’s right—a harp created from an oak wine barrel. If you want to see this stunning creation in person, it is on display at the Luther Burbank Center for the Arts (formerly known as the Wells Fargo Center for the Arts) in Santa Rosa.
Piece #2 was sponsored by and is currently on display at Francis Ford Coppola Winery in Geyserville. This beautiful bench features built-in side tables made from the barrelheads that bear the Coppola name and logo. Perfect for a wine lover or movie buff, this unique piece could be the centerpiece of a home theater, outdoor patio, a grand entry way, or at the end of bed. The subtle wine stain bottle design on the seat makes me smile every time I see this bench.
Piece #3 is one of the most beautiful frames and houses an illustrated map of the Rochioli vineyards, with the colors of the vineyard blocks tying into the colors of the wine-stained oak. This gorgeous frame hangs in the Rochioli Winery tasting room until May 10th.
Every chef and wine lover will want piece #4 for their kitchen. A rolling cart with two lower shelves and a rack for glasses, this could function as a portable bar for parties or a movable kitchen island. The metal legs and supports are made from recycled barrel racks. Sponsored by Stark Reality Restaurants, this amazing creation is displayed at Comstock Winery just outside of Healdsburg on Dry Creek Road.

Proceed Benefit Local Art Charity
Along with creating a memorable and lasting tribute as the Wine Road celebrates turning 40, the Wine Road is also contributing the proceeds from the Art of Oak sales to the Wells Fargo Center for the Arts, Children’s Art Programs in Sonoma County.
