Fall is my favorite season, and the Wine Road’s Wine & Food Affair is one of my favorite events. How convenient they happen at the same time.

Wine & Food Pairings

Wine & Food Affair, held the first weekend in November, is an event dedicated to showcasing how wine can enhance the flavors in food, and vice versa. Each participating Wine Road winery will be pouring multiple wines, but one wine will be singled out to pair with some tasty treat. And, if you love the pairing, buy a bottle or two of the wine to take home and recreate the pairing, for all the recipes will be online.

Because the recipes are online, they don’t disappear or get lost in the kitchen catchall drawer. If you want to view some past recipes and pairings, check out the Wine Road’s Wine & Food Affair recipe page. The recipes can be searched by:

  • Category
  • Main Ingredient

Instant Wine Cellar

The January 14th blog gave details on how the Wine Road has partnered with the Redwood Empire Food Bank to raffle off four 40-bottle Instant Wine Cellars. This is a year-long fundraiser in conjunction with the Wine Road’s 40th Anniversary. Winery members donated a total of 160 bottles of wine that have been divided into four separate instant cellar lots. Raffle tickets will be sold during Wine & Food Affair, and the drawing for the four instant cellars will be on December 1st.

Raffle tickets are $10 per ticket, six for $40, or 15 for $100. The Food Bank will be set up at several locations during Wine & Food Affair, so be sure to get your event tickets, so you can purchase raffle tickets to win one of the Instant Wine Cellars. The locations of raffle ticket sales are to be determined, so check the Wine Road’s website, or its Facebook or Twitter pages in a few weeks to learn where the raffle tickets will be sold during the event. For those of you who wanted to purchase tickets during previous events but didn’t bring cash, the Food Bank is now able to process debit and credit cards, so you don’t have remember to bring a wad of cash to buy your raffle tickets.

Fall Foliage

Besides the great wines, savory cuisine, and the possibility of winning a 40-Bottle Instant Wine Cellar, the other magical thing about Wine & Food Affair is driving along the Wine Road enjoying the splendor of fall colors in the vineyards. The roads you’ll travel from winery to winery will be a treat for the eyes, while the wines will be a treat for your nose and palate.
